The Mischievous Girl

Girl Tripping Smaller Kid Teenage Bully | Cartoon illustration ...The story begins in the Dormitory of a hostel where I was the senior- leader and she the messy girl who often get irritated and pissed off with my scolding.

The whole Dormitory followed my instructions, but she always played a negative figure with her state of confusions and disorderliness. Everyday my rounds ended with scolding her for the disorderly behavior, and that's how I noticed her and from then on-wards this Mischievous Girl was my target in the midst of 25 other junior. I maintained a strict senior-junior relationship especially with her who came up with various annoying behavior of anger, frustration for each other and moreover trying every possible way to irritate each other to maintain the senior-junior relationship.

That’s when I decided to shift her bed next to mine and watch her closely and guide her secretly as I realized scolding her is of no use. We started talking to each other though not in that good terms but somehow I started to understand her, her innocence, her craziness, her affection and realize that she is like the coconut hard from outside sweet and lovely within. She was known for her mischievous act and naughtiness throughout the hostel Warden disliked her because of her fondness for causing trouble in a playful way. That’s when one of the student complained against her for stealing money. I could see the tears of innocence in her eyes and pleading the warden that she had not stolen the money. But the warden showed no sympathy, in-fact assured her punishment if she doesn’t return the money within the stipulated hours of two. She tried to convince the warden that she is not the culprit but the warden gave no ears to her words since she was known for her mischievous act no one believed her. Understanding her innocence I went and gave the girl the same sum of money which had been stolen, and asked her to inform the warden that she got the money.

Though I had solved the problem for that particular time but my instinct never allowed me to sit silent, instead every now and then it tells me that the real culprit should be advised and encouraged not to continue such act again. That’s when I got a small idea. Making sure that everyone notices me, I randomly left Rs 500 note under my pillow (carelessly). That night everyone had gone for dinner and I deliberately kept the Dormitory open to check if the culprit comes. I finished my dinner before everyone and went to Dormitory and hid myself in such a place from where I could recognize the culprit. I waited the whole recreation period for the culprit after dinner, but no one turned up and after half hour all the students were back to the Dormitory prior to their study hours. As the study hours started I too left the room along with other students to the study hall and thats when I realized that I haven’t locked the Dormitory which brought me down to lock the Dormitory.

To my utter surprise I saw her searching my bed, as soon as she saw me she heisted not understanding what to do and rushed to the wash area. My eyes was filled with tears and confusion which left my body restless all I did was  sat down on the bed  rubbing my face in shock. I could not understand what I should do, should I inform the warden or should I sort it out by myself. Deciding to talk to her I slowly walked into the wash area.  I was stunned with what I saw. All that I could see was she trying to cut her left hand veins, out of the fear and guilt of what had just happened. Without a second thought I slapped her, not for stealing but for such a foolish act she was about to do and hugged her tight. I felt a huge compassion for her. I didn’t know what to do but I took her out of the wash area and took her to the room without anyone’s notice. She was still weeping and slightly bleeding as the blade which she tried to use was not sharp that’s y she had just some small cuts.

The warden had sent a student to look for us as both of us were missing from the study hall. The student found us in the dormitory and informed the warden and when the warden came to check us out I informed the warden that she had slipped her leg near the wash area and slightly bleeding so am helping her out with the ointment .Without any word the warden left the Dormitory.I didn’t ask her anything about what had just happened. The whole night we didn’t talk.

Since then we never talked about it neither to each other nor with anyone. And ever since that day till today it had been a week we haven’t talked with each other. The whole week was a different and new experience for both us. I never got a chance to scold her as she would always keep her things in proper and arranged way. The mischievous girl was lost somewhere. She became so silent and lost in her own company. Warden and others students were also so shocked with her changed behavior. It so happened that both of us never crossed each other’s paths, in-fact she would change her path if she see me coming or going and to the contrary all these behaviors’ annoyed me a lot.

One month passed thinking enough is enough; I finally decided to talk to her. I called her up to the backyard of hostel so that we are not watched by anyone. I asked her “what happen? Why do you behave so different?” Without any response she stood still leaning to the trees with her eyes on ground. Out of my frustration I shook her, held her hard, though it hurt her I didn’t leave her until she looked at me and said: “What do you want me to say ….. “I feel so guilty of myself that I can’t even face myself thinking of  how will I ever face you , who trusted me so much and who paid the stolen amount thinking am innocent!! .”

I didn’t have words but I could see her Guilt. I gave her a tight hug and assured her nothing have changed between us are, we still the same TOM AND JERRY who always annoy each other but never leave each other.
